A unique gravel riding festival weekend, based at Traquair House in the  heart of the Tweed Valley. The festival features two days of gravel riding on some of the most epic trails and roads the country has to offer. Both days start and finish at a lively festival village at Traquair House and each sees multiple Enduro-style timed stages. But it’s not just about bikes: the festival village features a host of activities and family-friendly entertainment, from live music to yoga classes, introductory bike sessions and more!​

The Wild Writers Festival returns for 2024 with a timely celebration of writing exploring our relationship with the living world – from nature writing and adventure to ecology, outdoor memoir and sustainable travel. Featuring writers including Harrison Ward – aka Fell Foodie – environmental adventurer, Kate Rawles and BBC sports broadcaster and dog lover, Andrew Cotter, the festival showcases the work of a range of authors as they share ideas, stories, influences and inspirations. For the first time ever, you can wander the woodlands of Traquair and see some of Scotland's oldest trees lit up at night. These atmospheric woodlands were once the hunting grounds of the kings and queens of Scotland – and you can experience them in all their historical glory under the cover of darkness. See the ancient yew tree circle sparkle, and explore the Traquair maze with added light and drama! Hot chocolate, soup and refreshments available.

Vallelujah sees two-days of riding (practice Saturday, race day Sunday) on some of the best enduro trails in the UK. The course, as usual, will be kept under wraps until the event but expect a top-notch mix of great Tweed Valley trails. The perfect end to the YT Industries TweedLove Triple Crown Series for 2023.

All roads lead to Glentress Forest this August for the world’s premier mountain bike cross-country races. Attracting the world’s leading riders – and the world’s cycling media – the Cycling World Champs will put the Tweed Valley well and truly on the biking map. The third TweedLove Enduro Series round returns to Innerleithen – the spiritual home of enduro in the UK – for some classic racing on the best of the Tweed Valley’s enduro trails. Expect a packed field, one of the most thrilling UK races of the year and a lively atmosphere in the town's shops, eateries and pubs.

Often called the mecca of UK mountain biking, and home to ESO, there was no question that the Tweed Valley would feature on the 2022 SES race circuit. The area is famed for its trail centre network at Glentress and the more gnarly trails of Caberston & Traquair forests in Innerleithen. But don’t be fooled that these are the only types of riding in the valley. Our backyard is awash with lesser known hand-built trails, some of which you’ll get the chance to ride at the SES Tweed Valley. This event is an EWS Qualifier race, giving those on the pathway to professional sport, the opportunity to accrue crucial qualifying points.

TweedLove Festival's big enduro! One of the most sought after enduros in the UK calendar, this year it is also Round Six (the final, deciding round) of the British National Enduro Series and the British Enduro Championships 2022.

TweedLove’s intermediate level Enduro. It's a proper enduro, but not as long or technical as the full British Championships course. This race is aimed at those who have out-grown Enjoyro-level races but aren't sure about taking on the full British Champs. This race is more low key — no seeding, just great racing and good times.

The return of the annual celebration of all things creative is centred on Peebles’ Eastgate Theatre with an exciting mix of live music, drama – with Borders Pub Theatre giving six new plays about the Tweed and The National Theatre of Scotland presenting a resonant story around political morality – and plenty of action outside. Look out for the Callants Annual Busking Competition, film shows in one of the smallest theatres in the country, plus a walk and talk themed around John Buchan’s local connections.

In the 250th anniversary of Sir Walter Scott’s birth, the 2021 Baillie Gifford Borders Book Festival returns in the magnificent new venue of Abbotsford – Scott’s fantastical home on the banks of the River Tweed. This year’s cast list is as impressive as the backdrop, with appearances by the likes of Gavin Esler, Andrew Greig, Finlay Calder, Ian Rankin, Michael Palin, Andrew Cotter, Hilary Mantel, Val McDermid and many more.
